Hello families!

I hope you are well and managing the storm of ups and downs during this challenging season. I wanted to send a few resources that might be of use to you and your family. As we are still together with our partners and families in new says, it is likely that some big emotions have bubbled to the surface. This is normal! We are all having these moments and personally, working towards having more strategies for self-regulation feels empowering. That being said, I wanted to pass along two upcoming webinars put on by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence that might be of use to you. Please note these webinars are on Eastern time, so please plan accordingly:

Wednesday, 4/29 at 1pm EDT – Supporting Teachers and Parents of Students with Special Education Needs with SEL During the COVID19 Pandemic Rapidly evolving requirements for remote learning are presenting unique challenges to teachers and parents of students with special education needs. It is necessary, now more than ever before, that teachers and parents work together to support the academic, social, and emotional health of all our students, and this partnership requires work. In this webinar, Dr. Chris Cipriano of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and Dr. Gabbie Schlichtmann of EdTogether will share how SEL can support teachers and parents of students with special education needs to navigate these evolving requirements together and how to manage the range of emotions they may experience along the way by leveraging SEL evidence-based practices.

How are you feeling right now? How are your family members feeling? Most of us are experiencing a range of emotions, and uncertain circumstances tend to intensify what we feel. How might we use the Mood Meter at home as a jumping off point for family conversations around our feelings? We can start conversations about how we feel and about what we’re doing with those feelings, in ways that feel both natural and easy. This webinar will provide strategies for helping family members understand themselves and one another better and for supporting the caring interactions most families hope to have.

Enjoy!
