I've heard it again and again- how do I help my kids connect socially? Don't fear! Even though we have to physically distance, we have lots of ideas for how to stay connected. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

1) Have a virtual play date: Invite a friend to play, draw, or just talk together. Kids can make blanket forts, read books together, and more! If you want more options for what to do together, grab a tablet and have your child and his/her friend explore an online museum or zoo together. There are lots of ways to explore and play together!
2) Gather for a game night: Yes, this has to be done via screens, but there are more and more options now for gaming together online! Do a quick search- even some of your favorite board games are now available for play online.
3) Host a movie night: If you have Netflix account you can host a "Netflix Party" so kids can watch a movie and talk together. Grab some snacks and share your favorite movie with friends!
4) Mail letters: Yes it's old school but remember how much fun it was to a letter from someone you know and care about? Start up an old school pen pal tradition- write letters, include drawings, stickers, and other small mail-able trinkets.
And LASTLY....
Hopefully some of these ideas will bring a smile to your child's face. And in the meantime if you are running out of things to do at home together check out this amazing resource full of 250 creative ideas to stay engaged and connected as a family!
